My Blog - May 2011
Hi Everyone, its been a long time since I’ve posted anything on my website, so I thought it about time, (sounds like a good title for an album) anyway there has been an awful lot happening, internally and externally, mother nature has been letting us know who’s the boss, and how fragile life can be, floods, cyclones, tornadoes, earth quakes, and tsunamis, oh! And the occasional volcano erupting.
Then there’s the world economy, which we can’t escape from, plus politicians who have no concept of reality, because they don’t live in the real world like the rest of us, they will say and do anything to get elected, then once there in, stuff the rest of us, needless to say I’m not a big fan of the Polly.
Musically its been a slow start to the year, once again due manly to the above,
So I took the time to finish my musical, yeah I know what your thinking, (about bloody time) anyway it has been received rather well and we are proceeding forward, with producer in hand, I hope to have it workshopped by the end of the year, and a provincial tour next year, to iron out the bugs, before hopefully coming to the big smoke, I’ve waited this long, what’s another year.
I’ve done some work with the lovely Jenny Morris recently, what an absolute darling she is, and you wouldn’t believe it, we are born on the same day, spooky!!
In September this year, we are teaming up with Joe Camilleri for some shows, very intimate, can’t wait, always loved Joe music as well.
Football: great to win the flag last year, and a good chance of going back to back.
On a personal not, I lost my nephew a couple of weeks ago, after a 3 year battle with cancer, his courage was something to behold, he never once complained or said ‘woo is me’, he just got on with fighting the good fight and living the good life, a cheeky bugga, who would always get into me when Collingwood lost a game, or the tigers won one, I will miss our confrontational texting, in the words of Vera Lynne “ we’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t when, but I know we’ll meet again some sunny day” R.I.P. little buddy.
Also we lost Mike Grabowsky recently, he was musical director on the Steve Visard show, and the brother of Paul, a really fine musician, and an even finer person, dearly missed by our industry, R.I.P. mike.
With all my gig and what’s on type stuff, it will now be posted on facebook, so logon and become a friend, I will continue from time to time to post important gigs and dates on my website.
To all my friends in Japan, I hope you are all well and safe, and to those effected by the floods and cyclones here, I hope you are getting some relief and satisfaction for either the government or your insurance company,
Through these times I feel very grateful for my life, my family, and my friends, at the end of the day that’s all that matters.
Take care
Captain Cup.
